About Video Downloader
Video Downloader is a free, browser-based tool for saving publicly available videos to your device. Paste a link, choose a quality, and the file downloads directly — no account, no installs, no waiting room.
What this tool does
It takes a public video URL, sends it to a configured downloader service, and shows you the download options that service returns: different resolutions, file formats, and an audio-only track when one is available. You pick one, and your browser saves the file.
Supported platforms
These platforms work today:
- YouTube (youtube.com, youtu.be)
- TikTok (tiktok.com, vm.tiktok.com)
- Facebook (facebook.com, fb.watch)
- Instagram (instagram.com, instagr.am)
On the roadmap
The platform registry is built to be extended, so these are recognised already and will be enabled as support lands:
How it works
- Your URL is validated in the browser and matched against the supported platform list.
- The link goes to our server, which reads the video's public metadata and lists the formats it offers.
- The format you pick is streamed back through the server to your browser — where a video's picture and sound are published separately, they are combined into one file first.
- Nothing is stored: the file is passed through, and your download history stays in your browser.
What we do not do
This tool does not bypass DRM, copyright protection, authentication, paywalls, or any other platform security mechanism. It cannot access private videos, subscriber-only content, or anything that is not publicly available. Requests for such content will simply fail.
Your responsibilities
- Make sure you have permission to download and use the content.
- Respect copyright law and the terms of service of the original platform.
- Use downloads for personal, lawful purposes — not for redistribution you have no rights to.
